Cancer Screening Awareness event
We welcomed around 50 local residents to our Cancer Screening Awareness event on 9th October at Plaistow Library. Joining us were Mansi, the Health Promotion Lead from the North London and Central and East London Breast Screening Service, and Leena, Health Promotion Lead from the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.
Our speakers led interactive talks on the symptoms of breast cancer and bowel cancer, the cancer screening process, and debunked some of the myths around screening. The event was received positively, and we hope that it has encouraged our attendees to respond to their next cancer screening invite.
Also at the event were our Healthcare Assistant, who provided blood pressure checks, and the community Hepatology team from Barts Health, who administered liver scans from their Community Liver Health van.
